- I've read half of Justine Larbalestier's Liar. I was completely surprised by the plot twist in part two, I mean, had no clue at all that it was coming. I have completely lost interest in the book now. Should I keep reading?
- Do you put things in the oven while it's still pre-heating? I do it all the time, but recently someone expressed such shock at the very idea that every time I do it I have flashbacks. (I made muffins this morning, in case you're wondering.)
- Did you know that Trish is having a baby TODAY?? I am so excited I can't stand it.

I haven't read Liar.... yet.
ReplyDeleteI do put things in the oven before it's preheated.
And I knew Trish was having a baby soon! (Induced today?) Wow, a lot of blogger babies lately!
1. I haven't read Liar yet.
ReplyDelete2. It depends on what it is, but yes, I do put things in the oven while it's pre-heating.
3. I knew about Trish, and I'm very excited too!
1. Yep! I probably read as far as you and DNF! The twist was not my cup of tea.
ReplyDelete2. Yep! I put things in the oven while it's preheating.
3. Yep! I've been thinking about Trish all morning. I'm looking forward to the news!
Oops! 1. It's up to you, but I DNF!
ReplyDeleteTo Joy- I'm usually ok with that type of book, but it's so unexpected and out of place here. I wanted something real.
ReplyDeleteYes, I put things in the oven while it is preheating, much to my husband's annoyance.
ReplyDeleteLiar....I liked it enough, but I was also surprised by the plot twist.
Preheating? What's that?
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Liar.
ReplyDeleteDepends on what I'm putting in the oven. Cakes, cookies, and pies, no. Anything in glass, no. Meat, yes. Except - the oven at my mom's (my old stove) has a pre-heat setting which is basically the broiler. Do you know how many things we have ruined by forgetting to change the setting to bake?!
I didn't know about Trish. How exciting! Please keep us posted.
I didn't even know Trish was preggers! Congrats to her!
ReplyDeletePre-heating matters with baked goods because when it only takes 10-12 minutes to bake cookies, one or two minutes in a less than ideal oven temp couid make a difference.
I wouldn't be horrified by you doing it though. LOL.
I haven't read Liar, either, but your question has me intrigued.
ReplyDeleteI put things in the oven before it's done preheating all the time.
And I just saw Trish on Twitter and congratulated her. :)
I put things in the oven all of the time while it is preheating. But I feel the need to warn you that I'm both impatient when it comes to cooking and not a very good cook either. So I guess you can take that as you like :P
ReplyDelete1. I think it is still worth reading Liar.
ReplyDelete2. Unless it is for baking, I hardly even preheat my oven. Waste of energy.
3. I didn't know about Trish but feel excited now just cuz I deeply love all babies!
You crack me up. Thanks for the mention. Trying to draft a post for tomorrow but my dang computer isn't cooperating. Booooooo!
ReplyDeleteI don't stick things like cookies or muffins in while in pre-bake mode (nothing that needs to be baked for a specific time). But if I'm cooking or reheating something then I stick stuff in at pre-bake all the time.
1. I read LIAR. Absolutely loved it. I loved how unreliable the narrator was. I would not like reading a lot of books like that, but wow did it make me think and question to the end. But stopping now is totally your prerogative. Although, you posted this over a week ago so maybe my 2 cents are pointless. lol
ReplyDelete2. I often do stick things in the oven while it preheats, but my oven gets to the dial temperature very quickly, so I don't worry about it messing up the final product.
3. Congrats Trish! I Love baby news. :)
1. I haven't even heard of Liar. I am super behind the times on books these days, sadly.
ReplyDelete2. I don't put things in the oven before they're preheated but I'm kind of OCD about doing things all by the book.
3. I don't know Trish but that's super exciting :)
Thanks for sharing your blog with me!
