Thursday Thirteen #14

Thirteen Things I did on my afternoon off:

Yesterday was my afternoon off. We get one afternoon a month off in exchange for working that Saturday morning. Here's what I did:

  1. Had lunch with my husband at Khoury's Mediterranean Restaurant. (I had falafel and baba ghanouj and he had chicken shawarma)
  2. Went to the library for ONE book and came home with NINE.
  3. Got my eyes checked.
  4. Got contacts (for the first time in 5 years!)
  5. Got an iced coffee from Starbucks.
  6. Went to Old Navy and bought NOTHING!
  7. Bought some k-cups on sale at Sears, of all places.
  8. Went to the shoe store and bought NOTHING!
  9. Bought two casual skirts at Target (this is the summer of the skirt for me!)
  10. Bought two birthday gifts at Target.
  11. Spent most of my paycheck on Mother's Day cards at Target. (ok, finally I think that this is a Hallmark Scam.)
  12. Bought cheap sunglasses (woohoo!! this is the whole reason I got contacts!)
  13. Went to Borders and redeemed my Border Bucks and spent NOT ONE PENNY of my own! (I got a little notebook, not even a book.)

  3. Of course you walked out of the shoe store and Old Navy empty handed! There are no books for sale there! :)

  4. That number 2 is ringing a bell with me. I've done that about a million times. My only problem is getting the books back by due date, yikes!
I support my public library with overdue book fines.

  5. Sounds like a really nice day. Happy TT.

  6. Yum, falafel and baba ghanouj! And I bought some great cheap sunglasses recently, too. :) Sounds like you had a fun afternoon off.

Happy TT, and thanks for visiting my blog!

  7. I've got to start wearing my contacts again so I can wear sunglasses. Although I am getting a nice collection of hats to substitute.

But no shoes?! The only reason I walked out of the shoe store without shoes for myself this weekend is that I bought 2 pair for the teenager and was running short of cash. Well, that and I was really hoping for some new motorcycle or hiking boots, but this is apparently Not The Season for them.

  8. Wow, that's one busy afternoon! The mediterranean food sounds good, I've never had any of that. We have one place nearby that serves that cuisine, but we've never been.

I had to laugh at the library one. I went in for one on reserve this week and walked out with four. :)

    Starbucks, yeah!

Skirts and stuff at Target, yeah! Fun :) Are they long or short skirts?

I think the greeting card industry is ridiculous. Most cards are 4 bucks or thereabouts.

Hooray for Borders! Again, you did great. Last time I redeemed my stuff, I spent an additional 15 bucks or so. Good for you :)

  9. Stacy, both skirts are about knee length. One of them is called a "yoga skirt"- does anyone actually do yoga in a skirt?? and is very very casual. I predict I will wear it all weekend every weekend.

  10. You sound like me at the library. Sounds like you had a great afternoon!

Thanks for coming by! I will be back!

  11. I chuckle over every part where you said "I brought NOTHING!" WOW can I related to that! It happen to me all the time. And I wonder if I ever gonna spend my money on something.

And like you, when going to library to just get one book, only end up bringing home more books than just one LOL

Happy T13! Have a good day!

  12. LOL. 2 questions. How can anyone go into a library and expect to leave with only one book, and how do you go into a bookstore and not buy a book?

    Thanks for visiting my TT!
