Thursday Thirteen #22

Last week I listed 13 books that I hoped to read soon. This week will be the last 13 books I noted in my notebook and why. These are usually books I do not own and might want to read, but sometimes I write it down for other reasons. I"m too lazy to link them all to Amazon, ya'll know how to do it yourself.

  1. The Next Thing on My List by Jill Smolinski- read a review of it on Trashionista.
  2. A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly- reviewed by Kailana's Written World
  3. If You Lived Here, I'd Know Your Name by Heather Lende- reviewed by Bookfoolery and Babble.
  4. Five Quarters of an Orange by Joanne Harris- chosen for the Something About Me Challenge by The Magic Lasso
  5. The Blood of Flowers by Anita Amirrezvani- also reviewed by Kailana's Written World. I thought this would be a nice follow up to A Thousand Splendid Suns.
  6. Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos by LaFevers- reveiwed by A Patchwork of Books.
  7. The Other Side of the River by Alex Kotlowitz- reviewed by Caribousmom.
  8. The Faith Club- reviewed by A Journey of 1000 Stitches- I wrote it down to remind myself who else had read it so I could compare when I was done.
  9. A Wrinkle in Time by L'Engle- reviewed by 3M- this one is on my Newbery list.
  10. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Houssini- reviewed by This is the Life ( and at least half a dozen others, this is the first one I saw)- I'm reading it now.
  11. Dedication by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus- reviewed by Not Enough Books. I love stories that revisit high school relationships.
  12. The Sword and Blossom by Dagnamenta & Williams- reviewed by A Work in Progress (and someone else later, but I failed to write it down.)
  13. Wuthering High by Cara Lockwood- YA novel reviewed by Bookshelves of Doom.

  2. I loved A Northern Light. And I actually had The Other Side of the River, but I put it in a bookbox the other day without reading it. I have so many on my TBR stack. I'm having to thin out the ones I'm not likely to read soon.

  3. Some of these look good. I could not get thru Five Quarters of an Orange.

And, look at all these links to other book fanatics. Yeah!

  5. Oh, good idea! I wish I could remember why half these books are in my notebook to look for. :)

I can vouch for Theodosia, by the way. :)

  6. Every time I think I'm caught up on what's hot, new things show up.

I hope you'll use some of those for my Summer's Hidden Treasures contest -- a review of any length is all it'll take (so long as the books aren't best-sellers). How can you refuse? You know you'll be doing it anyway!

    Happy TT!

  7. I'll definitely have to check some of these books as soon as I can open my eyes wide enough and for a prolonged period of time. Which may mean, like, a year from now (when presumably the new baby sleeps through the night!)

  8. I keep thinking I need to thin out my piles, but I'm just SURE that one day I'll be able to read it all.

Darla, I finally got smart and just started writing it all down. It takes a little longer but I love being able to go back and see what someone else thought. Half the books on my list are recommendations, half are just noted on books I already have.

  9. Darla, I just saw these notebooks from knockknock.com over at 50 books. I'm gonna buy the 1/2/3 one for lists so I can sort them out. I'm too much of a geek about these things not to!
