13 Things about the last 6 years...
- 6 years ago yesterday I left Alabama after living there my entire life.
- 6 years ago today I drove into South Dakota for the first time. My imagined idea of South Dakota (western SD at least) turned out to be wrong.
- It was then (as it is now) the middle of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, and there were a LOT of bikes. I was a bit nervous.
- In January 2003, I was hired at my current employer, as a teller.
- In August 2004, we bought our first house.
- The next week we got a dog, Scout.
- On October 2, 2004, Mike and I got married. It was a very small wedding, just ourselves and five witnesses. It was perfect.
- In January 2005, while 5 months pregnant, we took a dream vacation to Cabo San Lucas.
- On April 7, 2005 the Pirate was born.
- That same year I turned 30.
- In October 2007 I started this blog.
- On April 10, 2008, the Bug was born.
- Yesterday, on my anniversary of leaving my home and everyone I knew behind, I told a friend how much I didn't regret it for one minute. My life here is wonderful, more than I could have ever imagined.
I'm sure my perception of South Dakota is wrong, too. Of course, most people's perceptions of Alabama aren't right either. (Depending on what part of Alabama you're from!) We lived in Dothan for 12 years and Auburn for 8 years.
ReplyDeleteI made a huge life change a year ago this month... moving and leaving a whole way of life behind. I don't regret it for one moment either!! Change is good!
ReplyDeleteLike you I'll be going on my dream vacation while pregnant. We're going to Hawaii this November.. I'll be about 6 months along.
I enjoyed reading your list! I love learning about and *meeting* new people! Have a great Thursday!!
Congrats on your anniversary!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a lot has happened to you over the last 6 years. I'm happy for you that you found a place that you love so much and don't have to look back and wish you were there!
what a life you have...sometimes, change of scenery is exactly what we need. I left home 17 years ago and have a wonderful life..
ReplyDeleteOctober 2007?? Why did I think that you had been blogging for longer than that? When did you read A Thousand Splendid Suns (which is around the time when I started reading your blog, I think).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, sounds like a great 6 years--it's amazing all the changes that can take place in such a relatively short period of time, huh!
Trish, you're right! My first post was October 6, 2006! I reviewed A Thousand Splendid Suns on July 15, 2007.
ReplyDeleteGeez.
