Happy Halloween!

A good blogger posts about her kid's Halloween costume. A GREAT blogger thinks to take pictures early so she can share them ON Halloween.

I am not a great blogger.

You'll have to wait until tomorrow to see the cuteness that is the Pirate (NOT a Pirate) and the Bug (NOT a Bug).

For today, I have a question! Do you dress up at work? I work in a small credit union. There are 9 employees. We are allowed, and even encouraged, to dress up. Previous years have been hit or miss, but each year I've tried to do SOMETHING. Last year I was a witch. I was also newly pregnant and sicker than sick and creativity was not high.

This year we had the brilliant idea to all be nerds. Not the candy, the people. Somehow that evolved into being "Mathletes"- a specialized type of nerd (apparently) who competes with a calculator, not a scoreboard. We all have on black t-shirts with iron-on letters spelling out "Mathletes" and we have a competition name on the back. Mine is "Lady Logic". I have my hair pulled back in a series of sparkly banded pony tails. I pegged my pants and wore striped socks. The others have similar hair styles and socks. I'll try to get a picture.

This was a great idea... and then not everyone participated. So there are 5 of us as nerds. 1 of us (the only male) is a 1970s police detective. The other 3... did not participate.

Tonight, I shall change out of the nerd shirt and swap into a very light version of the costume the Pirate wanted me to wear.

So, are you dressing up? At work? For a party? To Trick or Treat with the kids? What's the best costume you've seen so far? What was the favorite costume YOU ever had? I'll share my favorites tomorrow.

Last year's witch, camera phone photo.

  1. My son was a mathlete in high school. Most of the kids on the team were foreign. I would chaperone trips and they'd all be speaking in foreign languages. They were great kids, though.

  2. I was on the math team too, but in junior high. Come to think of it, I'm pretty much dressed like I did then! Only I seem to have lost my Swatch.

  3. The Boy is dressing up as Bumblebee the Transformer. They are dressed up at school and having a Halloween party as we speak. Bitty is going as a Blue Power Ranger.

  4. Mathlete. Gotta have a picture. I was on the QuizBowl team, but I don't think our school had a Math team.

I am not dressing up this year. I will probably wear jeans and a sweatshirt.

  5. I am very into Halloween but do not dress up. Odd, isn't it?

I work for a university and all morning long co-workers have been making the rounds with some really good costumes. My favorite so far has been a BORG. I guess that is from Star Trek but it looked really good.

  6. Can't wait to see pictures!

We have a costume competition at work every year. This year there were some really good ones.

    1. A guy dressed up like an 80's rock star...complete with zebra striped spandex pants, huge hair, and a bottle of Jim Beam.

    2. A lady dressed up like the Far Side cartoon with the large lady in a mu mu carrying a lost dog sign...the dog is attached to her heavily padded bottom.

  7. Happy Halloween! I'm using the bag tonight to pass out candy and other than that am hoping for a quiet evening. I had every intention of posting a Halloween picture first thing this morning, but I found myself at 6:00 making last minute alterations to my costume. Oh well.

We did dress up at work--I'd say 75% of us did, but most of the execs were out of the office this week. We were an 80s bridal party, but with my dress everyone told me I looked like a saloon girl--so, in the future I think I'll alter it to make it a real saloon girl costume.

Love the witch outfit! And can't wait to see Non-Pirate Pirate and Non-Bug Bug!!

  8. No costumes for me today. I had the day off from work, but even if I'd gone, I wouldn't have been able to dress up. It's not politically correct. :-S

Because kids at my mom's school aren't allowed to wear costumes, they have a theme day instead. Everyone wears their shirts backwards.
