I will probably do this personal challenge again next year. I think there is an official challenge for it, but I haven't paid close enough attention to join.
I also cleared 20 or so books out of my TBR. I am posting most of them to Paperbackswap, but there are a few that I can't for various reasons. If any of you are interested in these, leave me a comment and I'll send it out to you. First come, first serve.
- The Best American Essays 2005 (has a very small amount of unknown water damage at the bottom)
- The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry (this one has significant water damage. It came to me this way from paperbackswap and I was then sent a second copy. It is readable, but the cover and the last 70 pages are wavy.)
- All Over But the Shoutin' by Rick Bragg (has a Christmas tag stuck to page 113 by the previous owner. Probably covers 10 or so words)
- Things I Want My Daughters to Know by Elizabeth Noble (ARC, corner of back cover is torn off- maybe 2 inches long?)
What did you hope to read this year and not get around to?
.
Good job! I don't think I even got through 5 of my 12. Eeeeek!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to read Edgar Sawtelle. I even bought it to read before years' end but never got around to it.
ReplyDeleteThat was an interesting thing to keep track of Lisa. It wouldbn't have occurred to me. But it is a bit alarming to realise that some books have been waiting in the iwngs for over a year isn't it?
ReplyDeleteAll the best for 2009
There were quite a few books I didn't manage to get to this year that I had hoped to. Most of my TBR Challenge list. LOL I only managed to read 2 of the books on my list. So you did much better than me, and you were doing it all on your own. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd love either the essays or Things I Want My Daughters to Know, if no one else has claimed them.
ReplyDeleteI had planned to read Tess of the D'Urberviles and also Eldest and Brisingr by Paolini, but didn't get to any of these. Maybe in 2009?

I'd like All Over But the Shoutin' if it's still available.
ReplyDeleteI read The Thirteenth Tale and it was one of my favorites this year. I also listened to the audio of Water for Elephants and Audacity of Hope. Good luck with your TBR in 2009!
Oops, forgot to leave you an email if you need to get a hold of me.

Andi, I'm actually surprised that I read 5!
ReplyDeleteTi, one of my good non-blogging friends read Edgar Sawtelle and LOVED it.
Kerrie, I have books I've been dragging aroung for 15 years unread!
Wendy, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who gets distr... oh look, a book I haven't heard of yet!
Carrie K, Alyce, Serena- I will email you!
No one wants a damaged book, huh? Yeah, me either.
I would like to read The Lace Reader. It looks like a good book and as long as it's readable. Then I can put it on our library free table and pass it on to someone else.

If no one has taken Things I Want My Daughter to Know off your hands, I've really been wanting to read that one!
