Random Friday

Long one today! (If you skip most of it, please read and comment on the very last one!)
New favorite picture of the Pirate!
Last night I was happily reading my book (The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks- it's very good, thanks everyone who said it was!) when suddenly I started seeing things. The left half of my vision went all wobbly and swirly. I assumed it was foreshadowing a migrane, so I quick packed it up and went to bed. This morning it's all gone. SO IS MY BOOK. Where did I put it???

This memory card is cooler than hell. It sends your pictures wirelessly to your computer or Flickr so you don't even have to take it out of your camera.

Speaking of cameras, I think I might have fixed mine! I still need to take some pictures to test it, but it looks promising.

I just discovered that TBR Day is on the 20th, not the 13th. This is SO MUCH BETTER. We have a busy weekend planned (NONE of which is about Mother's Day! Boo!) and I don't think I could have gotten something read.

I am having a bit of an identity crisis. I have business cards for the shop that include a link to the made by lisah blog. I want to hand them out around work, but the made by lisah blog has a link to THIS blog. And, of course, both at listed in my profile, and I like it that way. However, I feel like I'm missing an opportunity by not giving certain people my card. What would you do? Take the big obvious link off (even though it has a super cute little badge) and assume they won't poke around more? Most of my co-workers aren't so technologically advanced. Hi, co-worker who is reading this!! I'm not talking about you!

Here's a question for everyone: Does "partly cloudy" mean more clouds than sun, or more sun than clouds? What about "partly sunny"? Our house is divided on the issue. I'll put the real answer in the comments for those of you that are interested.

  1. According to the National Weather Service- BOTH are correct here is their definition of "partly cloudy": Between 3/8 and 5/8 of the sky is covered by clouds.

Alaksa Science Forum said this: "Ted Fathauer at the Fairbanks Forecast Office of the National Weather Service. I was inquiring about the difference between "partly cloudy" and "partly sunny." Ted admitted to a bit of subjectivity on the part of the forecaster in the matter, and revealed that it had a lot to do with what the weather had been like for the past few days. In other words, if there had been a streak of really lousy weather at the time of the forecast, but it looked like it might be clearing up, the nod went to "partly sunny." On the other hand, if it had been nice but it looked like some clouds would be showing up in the evening, the outlook was for "partly cloudy.""

  3. First off, that memory card! OMG,I must have one. Hey, did you get a new camera? That pic of the Pirate is too cute.

If I were you, I would not point your co-workers to this blog unless you are perfectly okay with them reading it.

I never mentioned my blog to anyone here at work because I post a lot, from work and they just don't need to know that. However, someone found me out! I had forgotten that they could be following me on Twitter so the jig is up. I have to be very careful when I am discussing my fake sick days and the like now.

Oh, and to me, partly cloudy means blue sky with some clouds.

  4. You know, I've never thought about the difference between partly cloudy and partly sunny. Not even sure I've heard partly sunny. Kind of sounds like one of those half full/half empty glass type things.

Pirate looks so big in that picture--big like grown up!

And you don't want work people to see your blog?? I'm apprehensive telling people that I book blog, but now two of my coworkers have joined me. It's fun, but on the other hand if I'm messing around at work and they come up behind me, they KNOW I'm not just on some random website but blogging. Guess that should teach me the lesson of working instead of playing while at work? Oh well!

  5. The Pirate looks SO grown up in that photo! I had a 'is that? no, it couldn't be, but who else would it be? really?' moment there because he just looks so much older! They're growing up TOO quickly.
