Random Friday for July 3rd

Not a lot of random this week. It's been a long week and I don't have a whole lot to say. I wish I were back poolside. See Frances? She loved poolside. See the Bug? He was trying to escape.

We are going out of town with the family for the fourth and I am completely not ready. I am not *quite* this maniacal though.

I am starting to realize that I am overwhelmed trying to do everything. I don't know what I wouldn't do unless I gave up some hobbies and I'm not willing to do that. If I could just find a way to not need sleep...

Still reading the same two books since we left for Tennessee on June 13th. They really are both really good, I just haven't had the time to sit down with them.

(My brother Ryan showing off. Even I was impressed.)
Do you have big plans for the fourth? Fireworks? Watermelon? BBQ? Swimming? I am hoping for all of the above.

  1. Our nephew's in town - we're just going to have a cook-out and relax. Have a safe holiday!

  2. At this point, we have no plans. It's making me nervous. I want to do SOMETHING! :)

  3. We're leaving town for a bit. Heading to the desert which is about 15 degrees hotter than it is here and right now it is about 98 here. However, I plan to stay indoors with a pile of books.

The kids have a waterpark lined up an for the 4th, it's a cook-out with my In-laws and then fireworks at a local park.

This is the first time we won't be home for the 4th so I hope the fireworks there are comparable to what we have here. We have the most awesome display of fireworks here.

Enjoy the time with your family. I know what you mean by doing too much and if we could live without sleep, man, that would be good.

  4. I hope you have a nice weekend, Lisa. I loved the photos! I know what you mean about being overwhelmed. I'm right there with you.

  5. Your pictures are beautiful! Especially the pool - it looks like fun :) I know exactly what you mean about feeling overwhelmed trying to do everything. I usually end up dropping away from knitting, crocheting and stained glass for a while in favor of books or movies. I hope you had a great (and relaxing) fourth of July!

  6. We had planned to spend all weekend at my dad's lakehouse. Everyone was coming down and it was going to be a great party. But then we got a baby shower invitation in the mail for some of Scott's friends and he changed the plans. Friday at the lake and the rest of the weekend sitting in someone's living room talking. Did see some fireworks (that we shot off ourselves), caught the field on fire, panicked a lot, and got about 50 fire ant bites (ok, 7, but they still hurt like hell). Not the best 4th, but I'm trying to not get all freaky about it. :)

I have that sleep dilemma as well, but I'm just not willing to give it up yet.

  7. Suey! What did you end up doing? I'd love an unplanned weekend.

  8. We ended up driving for nearly 3 hours to spend the day with my mom and dad, and my grandparents. My grandpa turned 89 on the 4th, so we decided to do the drive, have a picnic, eat cake and ice cream, and shoot off our little tiny fireworks with them. Next year, you can bet we'll have a major shindig for Grandpa with the entire family!

  9. Well, a happy belated 4th of July. I'm behind on everything. I was planning a blog post explaining what this particular American expatriate gets up to on American holidays, but maybe the world will have to wait until next year!
