The Read-a-Thon OR I May Be Crazy(TSS)

Next Saturday is the 24 Hour Read-a-Thon. I've wavered a lot on it. I was in, then I wasn't. I really would like to participate, even just a little. So I went ahead and signed up! It is entirely possible that I'll get a couple hours in and that's it. I'll be solo parenting next weekend, both on Saturday and Sunday, and I don't wanna kill myself trying to read. But I'm gonna do it anyway.

So what will I read? I just went to Goodreads and made myself a library shelf and I'm working on adding all my library books to it (I'm also gonna add it to my sidebar and try to keep it updated.) I haven't taken a picture of them yet but will before it starts. I'm also adding In the Woods because I hear it's spooky and the middle of the night the weekend before Halloween seems like a good time for spooky. I'll also add anything else I've already started.

I REALLY hope the cheerleaders are good this time! (Last time they kind petered out in the middle of the night when I really could have used the help!)

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a TON of stuff to get done before Saturday!

  1. I hope you can get some reading in this weekend. I just sent you a friend request on goodreads. I didn't realize we hadn't already connected on there.

  2. I have Into The Woods and her other book. I haven't read either one yet. Good luck trying to be a single parent and get some reading in:)

  3. I'm not able to participate in the readathon myself but I will try to stop by at some point and see how you are doing :) Good luck! I like the idea of having a library loot shelf..I might have to do that myself.

  5. Good luck with the read-a-thon, Lisa! I really enjoyed In the Woods. I didn't find it to be all that spooky, but I guess I can see how some might.

  7. I'm excited for read-a-thon though I don't think I can stay awake for 24 hrs.
In The Woods isn't spooky but very suspenseful, it should keep you hooked. Her second, The Likeness is good also. Good luck!

  8. I'm glad you're joining the read-a-thon. The Hunger Games is a great late-night book. I'll be cheering you on.

  9. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! :D

I just realized I have frosting on my toes. (I've been frosting...went to dinner with dad, ick...read some of Rebecca--haven't answered emails yet--probably will have to wait until tomorrow as I still have another layer of frosting to apply).

But EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Can you get one of M's sisters to watch the boys for a little bit? You don't have to tell them why, but tell them that you need this or you might die. I'm being melodramatic, I know.

  11. I got to hour 22 and then gave up. I kept reading the same sentence over and over and there were no cheerleaders in sight at that hour.

I didn't think In the Woods was spooky but it's good.

  12. Well, I'm cheerleading for the read-a-thon but I guarantee the middle of the night will not be a good time for me. Hopefully I'll be able to pop in at some point after the Halloween party we'll be at til quite late though. :-)

  13. I know you didn't mean it offensively, but I thought I'd say something about your cheerleader comment:
    1) There are ALWAYS a ton more readers than cheerleaders, and the
read-a-thon's gotten so big that even visiting every reader ONCE this time is going to mean visiting 11 readers an hour, every hour.
    2) Most cheerleaders don't do the whole 24 hour read-a-thon; so
obviously, most of them are going to cheerlead during the daytime
hours in their timezone. Since most cheerleaders are American, that's why there aren't as many at night.
    3) The cheerleaders are all doing this out of the goodness of their
hearts (there's no reward in it for them), and in some cases they're readers who have decided to spend some of their reading time
    cheerleading instead.

So I think the cheerleaders are ALWAYS good.

All of that being said, I hope you enjoy the time you get to spend reading! :)

  14. Good luck with read-a-thon. I, like you, will probably only get a few hours in and not the whole time.

  15. Eva--I wonder if there's any way to recruit cheerleaders for the middle of the night? I know there is a shortage and there always will be, but I'm actually planning on doing my cheering duties mostly after midnight since I'll be too tired to read. Maybe if a plea went out people would respond?

I don't think the cheerleaders haven't been good, and I don't think that's what Lisa meant, but I do agree with Lisa that it's tough in those wee hours when everyone else heads to bed.

  16. Good luck with the Read-a-thon. You should do some reading while you've got some free time, may as well make it count!

  17. Good luck! I wish I could join in but have to pass this time around. I hope to sneak on for a few minutes to see how everybody is doing on Saturday.
