I'm curious, what do you eat for breakfast?
I've gotten really good at going home and throwing something together for lunch, but breakfast eludes me. We don't keep a lot of breakfast food on hand and I often don't have time to sit and eat it anyway. I am way more likely to stop at the mini-mart or grab fast food on the way to work than I am to stop at lunch time.
So I'd like to know, what do you eat? Do you have some brilliant, easy, quick thing that you eat on a regular basis? I'm willing to spend a little bit for breakfast convienence, but I'm looking for something cheaper than stopping at Taco Johns. Suggestions?

yogurt, Life Cereal (usually without milk), instant oatmeal packets, a piece of wheat bread toasted with Nutella, or beer bread from Pampered Chef that I toast and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on...I have also bought frozen pancakes for my kids. And sometimes I just make an egg in the microwave-cracked, stirred, and then sprinkled with cheese and onion and pepper for about a minute.
ReplyDeleteThose are my suggestions. Not exciting, but easy.
Boiled egg and soldiers - easy and yummy!
ReplyDeleteI generally don't eat breakfast. :( I know, it's the most important meal of the day.
ReplyDeleteEveryone here has to have coffee.
ReplyDeleteMy husband makes his own eggs every morning. Our two college kids generally have yogurt and a muffin. I make a variety of muffins, usually from a mix, weekly. We do have cereal if they want it.
Non-fat honey greek yogurt from Trader Joes, and whole wheat toast with PB. Almost every day. I keep a supply of yogurt at work, and we have a toaster in the breakroom, so I eat at work.
ReplyDeleteSometimes on the weekends I go wild and have steel cut oatmeal with craisins and maple syrup.
I usually have half of a whole wheat bagel with Tofuti cream cheese and a glass of soy milk or I'll have a piece of whole grain toast with soy butter and then a glass of soy milk.
ReplyDeleteI have a mid morning snack of flax seed oatmeal to get me to lunch. I never have cereal as it always leaves me hungry. I also never have sugary anything because it makes my blood sugar drop.
I am bad. I don't eat breakfast.
ReplyDeleteTypically I have eggs over easy-ish with a whole wheat, high fiber english muffin. If I have it I spread a Laughing Cow cheese wedge on the muffin. If not, then a little cream cheese.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a bit of time....but a good breakfast helps me make it until lunch time.
It sounds ind of gross, but I love a hardboiled egg cut up over a piece of toast with jelly on it. Yum.
ReplyDeleteKellogg's Special K cereal bars - the strawberry flavor. Can't get any easier than that :-)
ReplyDeleteInstant oatmeal every single day. And my cup of coffee that I nurse for hours. I refuse to get up any earlier than I have to in order to eat breakfast and I'm usually not hungry until 8:45ish anyway (leave my house at 6:54ish). I keep multiple boxes of oatmeal at the office and just pour in some hot water. Very easy. And surprisingly filling. Generally don't eat a real breakfast on Saturdays, try to cook something on Sundays.
ReplyDeleteI still have a difficult time getting breakfast down. If I have to leave before I'm hungry, I take toast with peanut butter or just butter or instant breakfast in a to-go cup or a carton of yogurt or sometimes just an apple. These are so much cheaper, quicker than stopping at a fast food restaurant and waiting, and much better for you.
ReplyDeleteMy breakfasts vary depending on my morning, but I usually have one of the following:
ReplyDeleteOatmeal with banana (not the prepackaged oatmeal)
An egg with whole wheat toast
Cereal with milk and fresh fruit
Luna bar
Yogurt
I also always have coffee sometime before noon.
We always have a cup of tea in bed together as we all wake up (little guy joins us and does jigsaw puzzles or reads books with us), and I usually have a bowl of cereal with a banana. If I skip the banana, I'm hungry in a 1/2 hour. I'm hungry all the time anyway (I think you know I'm PG again?). I make frozen waffles or homemade pancakes for the munchkin, with fruit, and then he usually has a sunbutter bar (like peanut butter sort of power bar) within an hour or so after his first breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI almost always have a bowl of cereal or a bowl of oatmeal with something mixed in while I do my morning internet routine. Pretty boring, but it keeps me full until lunch.
ReplyDeleteplain oatmeal with a muffin crushed on top; cheese grits with half a grapefruit; or yogurt with granola and berries
ReplyDeleteCinnamon Chex cereal is currently making my life worth living.
ReplyDeleteI like fruit for breakfast. Or muffins. Waffles for a treat (a treat for whom though? Seeing as how I make them from scratch and then use my waffle iron?!)
ReplyDeleteI usually go with toast and a yoghurt and apple. Or dry cereal and a banana. Sometimes oatmeal in those little packets.
