Several months ago I saw a review of Audrey, Wait!
on Michelle's blog. I added it to the list in my head, but wasn't sure about it because I was worried that it would be similar to Dedication
by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus. I had read and enjoyed that one, but found the ending to be a bit of a let down. Despite this, when I found it on the sale tables while on vacation I picked it up and added it to my stack. It turned out to definately be worth it.

It turned out to definately be worth it.So what is it about and how is it different from the other? Audrey, Wait! is about your average, music-obsessed 17 year old high school girl. She breaks up with her (also music-obsessed) boyfriend, who happens to be the lead singer in a mediocre band, until that day. Evan (the ex-) writes a song about the breakup that eventually makes it on the air, and Audrey finds that her life has changed. Suddenly she's stalked by the paparazzi, recognized everywhere, and assumed to be a great musical muse.
While I didn't find the public obsession with Audrey to be completely believeable, I did really enjoy the book. It's written in first person, looking back at what happened, and Benway hits it perfectly. The snarky asides and the humor is spot on and makes me want to find more by the author. Audrey herself is likeable and her new love interest is incredibly cute (not quite swoon-worthy.) There aren't really any villians in the story aside from an annoying classmate or two, and even the ex is a somewhat likeable guy. It's a fun little story with a nicely satisfying conclusion. If you're a fan of young adult fiction, this is one to pick up. (Especially if you find it on the sales table.)
