Random Friday: Happy Anniversary Edition

Today is our 5th wedding anniversary. We had a very small wedding ceremony with just 8 people in attendance, including the two of us and the minister, so there are very few pictures. We have a small framed copy of this one in our hallway. We have babysitters tonight for both boys, so we're going to go have dinner alone, and not have to pick up a single fork. That, folks, that is romantic right there.

A super sweet book fairy sent me a copy of a book I have badly been wanting (Handmade Home). It was a thoughtful, awesome thing to do, thanks, book fairy.

I have FOURTEEN lip balms in my desk drawer at work. All different. Some are tinted.

I have seen mention of Outlander a dozen times this week. Despite having owned a copy for about 10 years, I've never cracked it open. Perhaps soon? Have you read it?

I have had a few moments of deep thought this week about where I want to be in five years. This is pretty out of character for me, I don't usually plan beyond the next 6 months. When I have it all worked out I'll let you know what I decided. Do you have a 5 years plan? Formal goals? It's unusual for me, but I can see that it would really solidify a few things for us, so I'm going with it.

I'm loving the song Arms of a Woman by Amos Lee. (That's a YouTube link, it's really worth listening to, go now.) (In fact, I just listened to it twice more.)

Shop Update: I had a couple of sales this week (yay!) but haven't found time to replenish. I'm hoping to get some sewing done this weekend. I've done a lot of on paper brainstorming, which is probably as important as actual sewing.

  1. Happy Anniversary! You two looked great in your picture! And those flowers are gorgeous!

  2. Happy anniversary to you both :) Have fun on your date!

Also, I was lucky enough to win a competition for the Outlander books, so will start them sometime soonish!

And yes I do have a five year plan. I'm quite excited about it. They're fun to have as long as you're patient about them, I guess. I struggle with that a bit.

  3. Happy anniversary!

I haven't read Outlander, either, so you're not alone. And I have no plans to read it, either. Although I did read the wikipedia entry so I know what happens. :-D You're right, it was everywhere this week!

  4. Happy Anniversary! I hope you two have a wonderful, romantic dinner tonight. We really don't have a five year plan, but we should.

  5. Happy Anniversary!

I think you would really like Outlander. They are very romantic books, but they aren't solely romantic. They have a great plot too. They look daunting because of the length of the books, but they're gripping.

Also, Amos Lee is fantastic! I've loved every CD of his that I've bought.

  6. My kids have outgrown the dropping of the forks stage but they bicker and nudge like there's no tomorrow. Everytime we go out by ourselves we spend the entire time missing the kids. We're hopeless.

    Happy Anniversary!

  7. Happy anniversary!! We're celebrating our 7 year in a week. We always try to follow the traditional gifts, which for us this year are copper and wool. I just ordered an etched copper guitar pick on Etsy which I was so excited to find (my husband is tough to buy for). I've never had a 5 year plan (maybe when I was a lawyer and the path was clear - associate, junior partner, partner), and hate I when job interviewers ask about a 5 year plan. I hope yours involves a booming Etsy business.

  8. Happy anniversary!

And, you must read Outlander. I rarely re-read books and I can't tell you how many times I've read it. I just love it!

  9. Happy Anniversary! I love fall flowers. Was even thinking of some this weekend while I weed (got a nasty gram from the landlord). I hope you guys have a marvelous time tonight.

Any more babies in those 5 years?? :P

Oh, and since no one else is saying anything, I will. 14 lip balms? I used to really like lip balm stuff but just use Burt's Bees now. Rarely. I'm convinced chapstick makes your lips more chapped thus making you use chapstick more often.

  10. Happy anniversary!

I also haven't read Outlander. They sound good, but there are so many of them, and they're so long...

  12. Did you also get to eat your meal while it was still hot? I always find that to be a big deal, even now since I'm apparently the family waitress. :-P

Happy anniversary and yes, read Outlander. It's marvelous.
