Hexagon quilt update #2-2014

Thanks to an overnight road trip, I was able to add 45 hexies and 3 flowers this weekend. This brings my hex total to 1391 done with 1539 to go. At the rate of 50 a week, it'll take me 30 weeks to finish, so well before Christmas!

I was doing a little rough estimating while driving last night. I need 2930 hexies. 310 are gray, leaving 2620 pink and white ones. If I roughly estimate 1 white hex per flower, giving me 8 unit sets ...that means I need roughly THREE HUNDRED AND TWENTY flowers. For some reason 2930 hexies don't scare me but 320 flowers? Oh my god what have I gotten myself into???

As last week, I'm linking up with Jessica at Life Under Quilts for her Monday morning star count.

  1. Well just think, for each flower that's sewn together, that's 12 little seams that will already be done when it's time to put the whole thing together. See, you're getting ahead!

  2. When I first started talking to the publishers about writing an EPP book, they didn't know much about it. I sent a picture and said, this has 1800 hand pieced diamonds. It sounded like such a huge number at the time.. but 320 flowers, you can manage that. :)
btw, I found pinks, now i just need to find time to get to the post office.

  4. I love your math … 320 would scare me less than 2900+. Either way, you are making wonderful progress!

  7. That is quite the undertaking but you are well on your way! Just think how satisfying and awesome it will be when you start sewing them all together!

  8. Wow! You made great progress this week! You will have 320 flowers done in no time…or at least by the 30 weeks you calculated :) Just beautiful!

  9. So pretty! Yay pink! I chuckle at freaking out over 320 flowers versus the thousand and something pieces. You can do it!
