Five Things I'm Doing on Friday, February 19

I'm watching... Friends. I know. I should branch out, but I still love it. Plus, I'm in that window of time where Joey knows about Monica and Chandler and keeps having to make up cover stories that make him sound worse and worse.  I think I'll go back to Gilmore Girls next.  Mike and I attempted to watch The Walking Dead together (no, we never have) and while I very much enjoyed the episode I saw, his binge watching style and mine don't mesh, so he's way way ahead of me, and it's not likely that I'll catch up.

I'm reading... I finished up The Martian last weekend. I LOVED it. I can't quite bring myself to write a review, since everyone and their mother read it a long time ago, but it kept my attention for hours at a stretch, never felt too technical, and had me biting my nails at the end.  We plan to rent the movie as soon as we have a quiet stretch of time.  I'm also still reading Reckless by Kimberly Kincaid, hopefully I'll be done by the time this post goes live.

I'm running... nowhere. Grrr. I should be much more dedicated to this half marathon training than I have been. It's just so hard to fit it in, and try as I might, I can't make myself do a 45 minute run in my basement. (This is totally where I should be watching The Walking Dead, right? Anyone have any other suggestions?)

I'm loving... Our new (to us) car. After a minor accident in early January (what?? the road were icy!) we decided we really needed to buy a second decent car. We've gone for years with a 2007 Ford Freestyle and a 1994 Pathfinder, but the Ford isn't great on slick roads and the Pathfinder has... issues. So we bought a 2014 VW Passat. I was hesitant (years of no car payments will do that to you!) but I'm really loving it.  Then we got the Ford fixed (handily, the accident destroyed the plastic grill/bumper thing that was already beat up, so it looks better than it has in years!)  We ALSO kept the Pathfinder, since a) it's a 4WD and sometimes you need that here, and b) it's the only thing that can pull the boat. Our garage is full.

I'm eating... I fell into a Pinterst-type haze and bought mason jars for mason jar salads. I'm always wanting an easy lunch, and this seemed like a great idea. The internet says they will stay fresh 5-7 days, and it hasn't been that long yet, but so far so good.  Now if I could find an easy breakfast that wasn't yogurt or hard-boiled eggs.

What's new with you this week? What should I be watching on the treadmill? What do you eat for breakfast?

  1. You should definitely watch The Walking Dead. I adore this show so much! That being said I love Friends too so really you can never go wrong with that show! I haven't been running either for the same reason... I hate running on a treadmill. Have a great weekend Lisa!

  2. Friends is always fun. I have not ever watched Gilmore Girls. It's kind of came in between my daughter growing up and other things. I should try it.

  4. The binge-watching style is how the male in this house watches stuff, too, so we hardly ever manage to watch anything together!

  5. Okay, that's it - I'm stealing my son's copy of The Martian. I really liked the movie a lot! Gilmore Girls - I want to get Miss H to join me in bingeing on that soon!
