- Letters from Mommy's Journal at Nattie Writes! As many of you know, Nattie recently passed away. These are letters written to her children a week of so before.
- The best book so far this year over at This is the Life. This is the second review of A Thousand Splendid Suns that makes me want to run out and buy it. In Hardcover.
- Amanda at A Patchwork of Books recently read 13 Little Blue Envelopes and also enjoyed it. Here's my review.
- If you've been anywhere in the book blogging world in the last month you can't help but be aware of the big debate over the value of book bloggers vs. in print reviews. I haven't talked about it here, but Bibliolatry has a nice blog post about it.
- 3M posted about the incredible amount of reading she has to do by the end of June. I am amazed, as always, by her.
- Mother Reader hosted a 48 hour reading challenge last weekend (while I was on vacation or I SO would have been there!) and posted the results here. The winner read an amazing 20 books.
- Darla's Thursday Thirteen last week was memorable first lines- I have got to get in on the Jim Butcher bandwagon!
- Suey over at It's All About Books posted this great conversation between her spouse and kids.
- A High and Hidden Place has a review of The Lightning Thief- a book I just bought on vacation.
- Mary Elizabeth Williams has an opinion on the Sopranos finale. I didn't get to watch it (yet) but hope to soon.
- So the fish said... has a wonderful post about being a parent. I know exactly how she feels.
- The only book I read on vacation was Number the Stars (my review here), 3M also read it.
- Oh My God! They Nebulized Kenny!

Thursday Thirteen #20
While we were on vacation last week I had very little time to check Google Reader for new posts. We returned Sunday morning and I had 670 new blog posts to read. For this week's Thursday Thirteen, I give you thirteen of my favorites, in no particular order.

Oh my! I have to spend more time reading now -- and i have already been sitting her for a couple of hours! These sound like some good ones. My TT is also posted.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! I've been looking for some more good reading.
ReplyDelete670 posts, huh? Pretty good...
ReplyDeleteHope you'll read some of those potential new books for the Summer Hidden Treasures contest I'm sponsoring... (hint!)
And in the meantime, I hope you can get back on top of your Reader. Pretty stressful when you can't, isn't it?
Such a tough choice for me, blogging or reading and now I am "hooked" on crocheting squares. Wouldn't it be nice to have an extra 4 hours in the day just for fun? I will have to check some of your links out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention! I promise you will not regret reading A Thousand Splendid Suns! Now I'm off to look at your other links.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list. While you're reading your books for West of Mar's contest, they can also count for my Beach Blanket Bonanza challenge which starts on July 1st.
ReplyDeleteHappy TT.
Aw, that "Letters from Mommy's Journal" one is so sweet... Such a wonderful thing she did for her kids!
ReplyDeleteI'm all over #2 as well! I actually saw it (in hardcover--as you mentioned) in the AIRPORT and thought, "I should get that!" And I'm the chick who never pays full price for books.
ReplyDeleteThese all look like great posts.
ReplyDeleteI have a boatload of posts on my Bloglines feed. It is hard to keep up w. everyone in the Summer.
Oh, very cool. Thanks for bringing these to our attention. (like I don't spend enough time online already--I'm such a sucker for finding a new blog to read!)
ReplyDeleteHope you do check out Jim Butcher's books--they're some of my favorites!
Wow! I'm feeling so flattered to have a little mention here! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt is crazy keeping up with everyone, but I do love reading blogs.
I'm with suey - thanks for the mention! I'm enjoying your site here!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea -- introducing new blogs, etc.. I'll have to check some out! :) And, I find google reader, bloglines, etc., so stressful! I just can't keep up!
ReplyDeletepussreboots, I can't find mention of your challenge on your blog!
ReplyDeleteHaley, it is stressful to have so many. I am always contemplating paring the list down. Somehow I can't have the list and not read it, but I think if I just removed some I wouldn't miss them.
