2007 Year End Wrapup

I admit it, this is my favorite part of the year- when I get to count up the books and see how I did. All over the blogsphere you'll find other readers doing the same thing. It makes me feel downright normal in my reading habits!

So first, the short version:
65 books read
21, 360 pages
55 by women
9 by men
1 joint effort
29 new to me authors
56 fiction (combined genres)
9 non-fiction

And now, the long version:

65 books read in the following genres (as categorized by me)
  • 17 urban fantasy/paranormal/futuristic
  • 16 Young Adult fiction (some of them paranormal)
  • 8 memoir/essays
  • 7 chicklit
  • 4 mysteries
  • 4 romance
  • 4 fiction
  • 4 classics
  • 1 non-fiction
29 new to me authors (in order read):

2 by Rachel Caine, Marian Keyes, Lois Lowry, Janet Evanovich, JD Robb, and Jane Austen

I am now fully caught up on the Stephanie Plum series by Evanovich, Lily Bard by Harris, and the Southern Vampire series also by Harris. Oh, and Harry Potter, of course.

A complete list including links to my reviews, can be found here.

Here is my 2006 wrap up, for comparison sake.

My goals for this year were:
More fiction by men. Not ONE fiction book this year was by a male, and in fact only 4 of the 43 were written by men.

Read all the books I buy/acquire with a copywrite date of 2007 IN 2007. Try to catch up on the 2006s.

Review more of the books I read here.

Not sure I did so well on the male authors, although the ones I read were fiction. Did much better with the 2006s, should have stayed on top of the 2007s. Did very well at reviewing. I also wanted to read 52 books, and I passed that easily. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the year. I failed at a lot of challenges, and learned not to join them, but was encouraged by other readers to pick up some really good books.

I'll put the best and worst in their own post, as well as my goals for 2008.

  2. LOL Yes, it does make me feel a little less like an odd ball, adding up my stats. :-)

  3. There's no category for dystopian books? :) I added up all of my stats yesterday. I didn't go into as much detail, though. I was pleased with how many books I read and how many of the authors were new to me.

Hope all is well with you. Happy new year!
