What's your poison?

(please note, this post written Monday night to be posted Tuesday morning. I am not having a beer at 5am.)

I'm sitting here surfing the internets with a nice cold beer, and it got me to wondering, what's YOUR poison? When you get home after a long day, what do you want to drink or snack on? When you're sitting at your laptop on Sunday morning, what are you drinking?

I'm having a Leinenkugel Berry Weiss right now, but this is kinda new for me. I like it, it's not super sweet but it's not straight beer either. I'm not a huge fan of "beer". In the mornings, I love my coffee. I drink it with cream and sugar, or flavored creamer. Right now I have Pumpkin Pie Spice creamer and French Vanilla. What about you? Wine? Beer? Soda? Tea? Hot tea? What are you drinking while you're reading or surfing?

  1. Incredibly cheap white wine (usually Chard). :) I bought a six back of Miller Lite for Girls Night on Wednesday but I can't remember the last time I bought beer--maybe when I was still in grad school!

    Otherwise just water. Pretty boring...

  2. Oh, and coffee of course. Can't get enough of it.

  3. I generally keep food and drink away from the computer. I try not to snack much. I'm boring - I usually just drink soft drinks or water. :(

  4. Iced tea or crystal light are my most common drinks. I do love a good cup of coffee with cream and splenda, but don't make coffee too often.

  5. Hot chocolate. Mmmmmmm. With cream.

  6. Coke (the cola, not the drug!). But I got too addicted to it, so I stopped drinking it. Haven't had one in about a year and 1/2. I still get bug-eyed when I hear someone else pop the top on one.

Other than that, I drink a lot of sweet tea and I do love an occasional glass of wine. Riesling or White Zin. Something sweet.

  7. Oooo I love beverages. When I was little my dad would take me to 7-11 for Slurpees and it was such a treat. Now I am such a coffee addict in the morning. Just a bit of milk and Splenda. Home from work I might have a beer (usually Budweiser or whatever my husband has around) or I love wine (red). Sometimes as a special after work treat with the husband out I'll get a martini. Or during the holidays I might splurge and get a bottle of Bailey's for Bailey's on the rocks. At work it's usually water and tea (English breakfast). Now you know more about me than you've ever wanted to know :)

  8. Trish, I'm finding that the more coffee I drink, the more I think about it. It's become a true addiction for me, one that I have to think about or I'll mindlessly spend money on it. My current weakness is vanilla iced coffee at McDonalds. If I leave the house alone and am not going to work, I'm almost guarunteed to stop for one.

bermudaonion, we used to be heavy soda drinkers here. Then we started to buy those little flavor packets for water and have been drinking them for a while.

Gina, I'd drink more iced tea if I lived where you live! As it is, again, McDonalds has the best sweet tea around.

janssen, I had my first hot chocolate of the season on Sunday night. I made it with my coffee maker (I have a one cup coffee maker, I just heated the water in it). It wasn't great. Do you use the cheap stuff in pouches or the good stuff?

mercy's maid and amanda, I WANT to like wine. I love the idea of sharing a bottle with my girlfriends, but I don't. I get tipsy WAY faster with wine, and don't really enjoy it. A baileys on the rocks could do nicely tho. Or some baileys in hot chocolate. A tiny shot of bailey's in warm hot chocolate every night wouldn't be a problem, would it?

  9. There is no way I would be up posting at 5am if I was drinking the night before. Course I may drink a bit more than one beer. I prefer wine or whiskey if I am having a night out. My workdays are filled with coffee and tons of water. I can never get enough water.

  10. Coke and Mt. Dew. I am a hopeless sugar/caffeine addict. I need to work on that.

  11. With a three year old and a 17 month old in the house I don't dare put any beverage near the computer. So nothing for me!

  12. Definately coke. But N and I drink too much of it, so we've put a limit on the amount of coke we can have in a week. So usually my drink of choice these days is orange juice or some child-friendly choice :(

  13. The evening's poison defintely depends on my mood. Sometimes, especially in the summer, I really really want to crack open a cold beer. (Stella Artois is the house special.) Sometimes, especially in the evening, I want a glass of wine.

I also love cocktails - the stranger the better. I mix a mean Harvey Wallbanger Fizz, Hendricks & Tonic with Cucumber, and some other oddities. I bought a set of books called "The Gentleman's Companion" and the book on drinks had a ton of really fabulous, old-fashioned cocktails. So some Saturday night, you just might stop over for a couple of New Orleans Silver Fizzes!

  14. Natasha, my cats are more likely to spill our drinks than the three year old, but I feel your fear!

lisa, I really wanna stop by on a saturday night now, darn that living in the middle of nowhere thing. I always want to try the odd drinks, but never want to spend the money on them- what if they suck?!

  15. I'm weird. When I get home from work I crave chocolate soy milk...preferably made by Silk. It's super rich yet makes me feel like a health nut at the same time.

  16. After a long day of work, I like to sit back and indulge in a dish of ice cream. Can't beat that. :-)

On Sunday mornings, I usually just drink water--maybe a little juice if there's any in the fridge.
