Random Question!

If you could play any musical instrument, what would it be and why?

I'd play cello. This is gonna sound dorky as hell, but cello music has emotion to it that I don't hear in other music. Some songs (I'll be asking a follow up soon) get to me, but for just the instrument, it's cello.

Here's an example:

  1. I used to play violin (I played for about five years) and I totally miss it. I would take it up again if I had the time or money.

  2. O that's my favorite too! I love the emotion it envokes. Beautiful. You should read The Spanish Bow if you haven't already. And her website has cello music, so you can read and listen to the music. Very cool.

  3. The guitar. But maybe that's cheating since I already do know how to play (although not at all well). :-) I also really like to sing.

I love music and would be lost without it. I especially love the sound of the acoustic guitar--it's so beautiful and it makes me melt inside when done right.

  4. The cello is such a beautiful instrument! I'd play the piano. I took lessons when I was younger, but I never really had the talent for it.

  5. I play the flute, but I've always wanted to learn how to play the piano (specifically Rhapsody in Blue).

  6. I would love to learn the violin. That music just speaks to me.

  7. I had to think about this and I decided on the drums just because it seems like a fun instrument to play. I am tone deaf and can't play any instruments though :)

  8. I'd play the piano. I was lucky enough to begin lessons this January, and I'm absolutely loving it. Also, I'd like to be much better at recorder and flute.

  9. I would play the saxophone. I love smooth jazz and the saxophone is such a sexy instrument. I've had a piano, guitar, drums and a violin before but never a sax.

  10. I played cello for about a year in elementary school. I did it to be different, b/c my siblings were studying violin.

I gave it up because I was always lugging it around and when I went to practice I had to sit with the cello while my friends and their normal sized instruments sat together. (silly reason I know)

I really wish I hadn't given it up, b/c I wish now I could play it.

Do you like the movie August Rush?

  11. I'd love to be able to play the piano or the violin. My husband plays both but doesn't do it often enough!

  12. Violin would be my second choice. I really think I'd fail at anything you have to have an ear for- violin, cello, etc. Piano someone else could tune and I could techinally be able to play, I think. I took lessons for years but am horrible at it.

  13. Good question! I think the piano is my instrument. I also want to learn guitar. Fortunately I will be learning both in the next year. I am so excited.

  14. I love the cello too. Amazing, beautiful sound. I play the piano and the clarinet a little, or I used to. BUT, I've always wanted to learn the drums. They are hard though. I've tried. It's like rubbing your tummy and patting your head at the same time. Ever tried that?
