I wish I had better luck picking books like that because I'm pretty stalled on everything else I'm reading. I have 6 half read books sitting here beside me and none of them inspire me to pick them up. Wednesday is avidbookreader's TBR Day which is the only challenge I've successfully completed so I'm inspired to have a review ready. She's changed the focus a bit towards more romance this year and I'd have to start yet another book to meet that goal. The six I have going are:
- For a Few Demons More by Kim Harrison
- Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos (barely started)
- The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyle
- The Freedom Writers Diary (yawn)
- The Book of Vice by Peter Sagal
- Kitty and the Silver Bullet by Carrie Vaughn
The boys napped well today, so I got a little sewing done. I have 5 items ready to list in the new store (once I take pictures). I also started sewing some little giveaway items and managed to mess all 4 of them up. Doh! I'll blog about my sewing adventures once I have some pictures to back me up.
I'm supposed to be drawing names for my two giveaways today, but I'm lazy so I'm giving you one more day to enter if you haven't already. I have tomorrow off work for Native American Day (if you live in SD) or Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (if you live anywhere else) and the boys have daycare so I'm spending a day getting myself in order and then sewing sewing sewing. I can't wait!
I have Thirteen Reasons Why and I'm looking forward to reading it.
ReplyDeleteGlad the boys gave you a bit of a break by napping. I remember those days.
ReplyDeleteI have to remember why I read. I read because I like to but with the blog, I think we sometimes feel obligated to read so we can keep posting. In reality though, my non-book posts get the most hits. Weird, huh?
So what's my point you ask? Even if you don't read and post about it, we will still read the blog. LOL.
I finished Thirteen Reasons Why this week too. I finished it last night. I listened to the audio of it, which you can image had a very intense effect. I have heard a lot of interesting things previous to reading this. Things about how the concept is really creepy, and that Hannah is sort of a selfish jerk. And I think this may be true. But I think there is genius in the storytelling. In the way to two narratives mingle together.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear your thoughts.
Ti-
ReplyDeleteI completely know what you mean to read FOR your blog. It can feel so frustrating to not read simply because you have nothing to blog about.
But at the same time the blogging aspect brings a whole new level of enjoyment and understanding to my reading, so you won't hear me complain too much.
You managed to read more than I did this past week, Lisa. :-) I look forward to your review of 13 Reasons Why, especially if it's such a discussion worthy book!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great week, Lisa.
Ooh.. enjoy your day off!
ReplyDeleteI just got Thirteen Reasons Why and hoping to start it this week, although I still have a book from the library that I need to start.
ReplyDeleteI keep going on about Love Walked In and I hope you are able to pick it up again - I do remember it being a little slow in the beginning but for me - it just all came together suddenly and I couldn't put it down.
I'm definitely interested to read your review on 13 Reasons Why. It has been on my TBR list for awhile now but I haven't picked it up yet.
ReplyDeleteSeriously--today is Native American Day?? Our company doesn't give us MLK day off--or Presidents' Day. Nope--no holidays for Trish until Easter!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the reading! I've heard good things about Love Walked In so hopefully it picks up for you.
Kathy and Sam, you should get right on it, it's fast!
ReplyDeleteTi, I'm with you. I don't feel obligated to read, but I start to feel guilty that none of my posts have any meat to them.
Megan, I kinda do think Hannah was selfish, but at the same time I think she was in a place where she couldn't help it.
Vicky, I should really give it another chance, maybe this will be it's week!
Michelle, my day off got sidelined, boo.
Trish, we get all these little holiday but we don't get anything for Easter!
