Milestone: First Tantrum.

Tonight the Bug was chasing a kitty who smartly ran down the stairs. I shut the gate behind the cat and the Bug LOST HIS SHIT. He screamed and flailed and threw his body around for at least 20 minutes. He absolutely would not be calmed down or consoled. This kid has a TEMPER. He's not even one yet!

Edited to add: I emailed the video to another of the moms from our daycare and this was her reply:
Oh, my. He really doesn't like gates. [The Bug] was very upset when I shut the gate today after the kids went through. I said something to him like "oh your mommy will be here soon." and Carol (daycare provider) said "it's the gate, he doesn't like the gate to be closed." :)

  1. LMAO!!! That looks like a tired kid to me. Too funny. What will you do when he is 2???

  2. This made me laugh, too. I guess because it's someone else's turn to go through that. Feel good in knowing that you did the right thing by letting him cry it out.

  3. Wow. He really loves the cat or hates the gate.

  4. What a little ham! He was pissed for sure but he kinew you had that camera! The dramatic pauses... the teary eyes looking right at ya! You are gonna have your hands full!

  5. Thanks so much for sharing this. I know I shouldn't, but it makes me laugh because I remember so well when my little ones would do that. They turned out quite nice, by the way. Enjoy the chaos and the messes and the tantrums. You'll miss it someday. I know, I sound like an old lady, but it's true.

  6. Aw, I just thought that was so sweet. It's been a very long time since I had a tantruming baby in my house. Now, I get big guys throwing tantrums. It's a whole different story. :)

  7. I had a rough day filled with temper tantrums from my four-year-old. It's always good for us moms to know we're not alone in these experiences. :)

  8. Oh my! I remember the first time my youngest hit me and I thought, "Oh no, he's not my little baby anymore!"

  9. Lisa, I am afraid of 2!

Other Lisa (other other Lisa?) I know, and I already see myself missing it.

Natasha, I think the "he's not my baby any more" is why he's still nursing.

It IS funny, which is why I posted it.

  10. Lisas everywhere--like all the Trishs who seem to be popping up!

Poor Bug!! Bet he slept well after that!
