Not surprisingly, it all caught up with me.

I am sick. I want nothing more than to curl up in my bed and sleep. Unfortunately for me, life goes on and I'm the full time parent in charge of three active healthy kids. Please, don't tell me to ask for help, I would if I thought I had options.

In what seemed like bad news at the time, the house we were planning to rent fell through. For those of you keeping score, this is the third one. This means we are not moving on Friday, so I can get better without packing.

Housing is so limited out there, particularly if you have pets. We seem to have three choices right now:

  • The house with the hoarder landlady who likes to use your garage and basement for her hoard.
  • The house next door to the 24 hour gas station/liquor store.
  • The 2 bedroom house with no bathtub and no yard. At all.
With the timing of the grand opening of Mike's store, this puts the move off another two weeks. Of course one of those weeks are Thanksgiving week and it looks like we'll (that is, the kids and I) be driving to Pierre and back twice that week. I really REALLY need a DVD player for my car, anyone got some spare cash to buy us one?

And that's about where we are.  I'll be over here with the blankets if you need me.

  1. Ug, I am sick too. My kids are too so we are curled up in my bed getting ready to watch a movie.

I am really sorry you can't find the right place for you. Really frustrating.

  2. I am so so sorry. I know what it's like to be away from family at a time like that, and it's so hard. I hope things get better for you very soon.

  3. So many of us are sick right now. I'm sorry you are sick and having to deal with all of this. I took Theraflu on my way into work today which was dumb, dumb, dumb. Halfway to work I started to nod off.

Let's hope something else opens us here in the next week or so. The options you listed are not ideal but then again, they don't have to be forever options either. Who wants to move twice though?

  4. Hope your feeling better. We have used a laptop in the car - all you need to do is buy an adapter for the car. Might be a cheaper way to go.

  5. Oh, ugh. It probably won't make you feel better to hear I am down with the PLAGUE, too... but maybe it will: misery loves company after all.

I have no words of wisdom for ya. None of the houses sounds ideal at all, but- is the liquor store open 24 hours or just the gas part? In our town they can't sell alcohol after midnight and our sister town stops at 9:00. Might be worth checking. If they stop selling at 9:00 it might not be so bad?

Oh, wait- I do have a word of wisdom! Theraflu!!! (The apple cinnamon one tastes the best.) Theraflu for you, Benadryl for the kiddos... ;o)

  6. Awww..that is the worst. I'll be praying that something works out for you and you find the perfect place to live. But until then I hope that you feel better soon!

  7. Hoping you feel better soon! If it makes you feel any better- my husband is also out of town for work and today after sending three healthy people off to daycare and school, two returned with fevers and chills. Just waiting for the remaining child and myself to drop.

  8. Hope you get to feeling better soon. Those three choices won't help any! Yuck! Hope something better comes up.

  9. Yes, a laptop is a great DVD player for the car and Radio Shack sells the adapter to plug in. This move is really proving difficult...something will turn up though!

  10. I'm so sorry, Lisa. You must feel really frustrated and fretful right now. Don't settle for those other home options. It is SO much work to move... you don't want to move to one of those places and then pack up and move again in two months!

Sending you virtual chicken soup and plenty of hugs. I know it's not the same as the real thing... :(

  11. Heavens! I hope everyone gets better really fast.

I didn't realize this was the third house. So sorry. Maybe, just maybe, something will open up.
