- I made this Pineapple Upside Down Cake over the weekend. It was terrific. I never thought I liked it before, but I've been proven wrong.
- Do you guys remember a couple years ago when I was blogging over at So, What's for Lunch Today? No? Well I started back at it. And I convinced a few new people to join in. Feel free to stop by.
- Last week I forgot to link you to our completed reading lists for 2011. You can find my list here, and Mike's list here. For those keeping score at home- he beat me by 7 books. The game is ON for 2012.
- The sound of people eating cereal makes me insane. I want to rip their spoons out of their hands and make them go hungry. I don't, but I really want to.
- I've started a new method of making coffee. I picked up a Melitta Ready Set Joe Single Cup Coffee Brewer and have been making it one cup at a time for a week now. I like everything about it, except that it doesn't stay hot as long. I think this is fixable, if I were to get a kettle to heat water. I'm using a Hot Shot now, and I think it just doesn't get as hot as a kettle might. I really missed the ease of my Keurig , but at $1.98 (After our handy Ace Hardware employee discount, but still super cheap even if you don't work for a hardware store) this is a much more reasonably priced option.
- If you were interested in a Baby's First Christmas Ornament (seen here and here), they will be going in the shop later this weekend.
Why Women Need Fat: How "Healthy" Food Makes Us Gain Excess Weight and the Surprising Solution to Losing It Forever You can read my initial thoughts here.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. Whoa. Yeah, I cried, like everyone else. But then after it was over I thought, well, I don't know exactly, but I can't quite figure out the point of it. I'm going to blog about it next week, if you've read it please stop by and chat, ok?
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. I'm not done with this one, but I am really enjoying it (also like everyone else. Am I a follower this week or what?) Karou is terrific, and I love that it's setting us up to root for the "bad guys."
Great links, Lisa! I really want to read A Monster Calls and Smoke and Bone. I've been laying off the YA but it's getting enough buzz from trusted bloggers that I'm really interested.
ReplyDeleteI probably will not be contributing to What's for Lunch? this year. This gluten free stuff is okay if I don't look or hear about other people's eating habits, but when people start talking about PIZZA and SPAGHETTI and real sandwiches on crusty bread, this gal just can't take it.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, my husband and I have crazy competitions too, not for books, but we're insanely competitive about our credit scores and dental checkups. I'm picking up the Kitchen Counter Cooking School at the library tomorrow. I read her last book awhile back but didn't know she had a new title out until I saw your review a couple of weeks ago. I'm excited!
ReplyDeleteI love my Keurig! I only use it for tea and generally just drink one cup a day, so the expense isn't too bad.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you've had an interesting week of reading. (I love the picture by the way) And I like the title of Why Women Need Fat so I'll have to check out your post on it :)
ReplyDeleteI really want to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone also. I'm impressed that Mike reads so much. I generally read twice as much as mine. He reads a lot of plays though and doesn't count them.
ReplyDeleteMy sister got my dad a Keurig for Christmas but, knowing that he's too cheap to keep buying the individual cups (even tho he can afford them), we picked him up this accessory that you can use that will allow you to use your own coffee. Now I'm going to have to buy him several different kinds of coffee, though, because he was really enjoying having a choice!
