- It's been a crazy week, much of which I'm sad to say, I can't share with you all. Boo. (Nothing bad, just not my story to tell.)
- I can tell you that on Wednesday the Pirate's school got out early. I had no idea. Until they called me. Oops.
- Thanksgiving was nearly perfect. The food was all completely excellent. It was just the five of us, no stress, all relaxation. I took a nap! (If you know me at all, you know this is amazing.)
- The Bug is struggling with impulse control and wildness this week. He sometimes seems completely oblivious to the fact that if he acts like a brat, no one else will want to play with him! It is insanely tiring.
- I'm trying to get some sewing done in the shop for Cyber Monday. Right now there is just one new item (this lovely purse), but I just completed a set of e-reader cases and have more cut and ready to go. You can see a preview of the cases on the Facebook page. They are sized for either a Kindle Fire or a Nook Color.
- I'm up to 228 hexes for my pink and gray quilt! (only 3772 to go!) I am definitely gonna need more fabric.
- The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migrationby Isabel Wilkerson. Oh this book. I've read half of it. It the first book Janssen ever recommended that was a struggle for me. I might not finish it. The subject matter is fascinating, I am enjoying that aspect tremendously. (I was a history major, after all!) But the writing is so awkward. She repeats herself, within the space of a couple pages. She really needed a better editor. It's an e-book, and isn't in high demand, so I might go back to it, one day.
- Running Away to Home: Our Family's Journey to Croatia in Search of Who We Are, Where We Came From, and What Really Matters by Jennifer Wilson. This one I'm loving. It's an InterLibrary Loan, so I'll finish it by Sunday if it kills me.
Impulse control is so hard for little ones around the holidays.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree that that book could have used some better editing. Oh well. . .
ReplyDeleteI need those wine glasses. Since I mostly drink in bed (I know, so weird but I do it while reading), the stem of the glass gets caught on my comforter. I want a glass that I can drink without having to sit up to take a sip. So lazy, huh? I shouldn't be leaving this comment...
ReplyDeleteBoth of those books sound like heavy reading! I'm reading a book for book club right now called I'm Down--about a white girl whose dad thought he was black. The writing is terrible but I'm going to try to power through.
I hope the Bug gets over that phase soon! Glad you had a great Thanksgiving. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you're not enjoying The Warmth of Other Suns; it's one I've had my eye on for quite a while. Hmm, maybe not going to rush to it any time soon.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had such a lovely Thanksgiving!
Running Away to Home sounds like a great read! I hadn't heard of it before not but I'm adding it to my TBR list, and I can't wait to hear your thoughts when you finish. Pickle is struggling with the terrible twos/almost threes...I'm not sure which is worse at this point. I do know that I feel your pain. I keep telling myself that he will grow out of it but ugh!
