Reading Report 2

Yikes. Crazy times around here, still. Some days my only reading is in my two 15 minute breaks.  I always think I’m going to read in bed, and then I get in bed and my pillow sings so sweetly.

Recently Finished:
A Week to be Wicked by Tessa Dare. Pretty darn good, but not terrific. Because I trusted the recommendation so much, I had already requested two others, so I went on to read-

Any Duchess Will Do by Tessa Dare. I got this one through Edelweiss, and it was just released on May 28th. Guys, this was EXCELLENT.  Highly recommended.  I plan to do a full review of this one soon. Meanwhile, you can see a very short quote here, at SorryWatch.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid:The Last Straw by Jeff Kinney. We finally found a book that the Pirate wanted to read on his own time! He read most of it, but I did read a good bit out loud as well.
We are also still reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone out loud at bedtime. Sadly, I won’t be able to say I re-read the entire book, as Mike often takes a turn. Lucky for us, we know what happens.

Recently Abandoned:
The Things That Matter by Nate Berkus. I read a great review of this one, but when my turn came up I was not sucked in. Too many books, too little time, and back it went.

Coming up Soon:
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I have never read it and I think it’s about time.
Out of the Easy by  Ruta Sepetys. This one is due back on June 11 (Coincidently, my birthday!) and I read really great things about it.
Bloodspell by Amalie Howard . A NetGalley request.
A Lady by Midnight by Tessa Dare.

  1. I haven't been reading all that much. When I do, I read large chunks but there are many days in between where nothing gets read. I am just too distracted these days.

  2. So glad to hear that the Pirate has found a book series he enjoys! My brother never liked to read until he discovered The Hardy Boys (yes, I am that old) but read every last one of those books. It's all about finding what clicks with any reader, it's just a lot easier with some of us.

  3. I use to read in bed, but lately when my head hits that pillow, all I want to do is curl up and sleep:) (our mattress is way to comfy).

  4. Ha! My pillows call my name as well. And if it makes you feel any better my only time to read lately has been on my breaks as well! Tis the joys of being busy 24/7. I can't believe you didn't have to read The Great Gatsby in high school. I'm pretty sure that I did but I don't think there was a single classic that I enjoyed back then besides To Kill A Mockingbird. I should probably reread Gatsby just to see if I actually like it. Hope you have a great upcoming weekend!!
