Here's what I read:
Cuff Me by Lauren Layne. (netgalley) Again with the Lauren Layne love! This one isn't out until the end of March, so full review then. I still enjoy this series very much and stay up way too late to read them.
Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech. (Purchased) I read this one in an evening because Tristan was reading it for school. It was kind of nice to read a book "together" and talk about it. Now if he'd only read Harry Potter!
Kara Goucher's Running for Women: From First Steps to Marathon by Kara Goucher (Scribd) Still reading.
The Martian by Andy Weir. (Library copy) LOVED this. We watched half the movie last night before the boys lost interest (they've seen it) and Lauren was ready for bed. Hopefully I can finish it tonight, maybe on the treadmill.
Sorting the Beef From the Bull by Richard Evershed and Nicola Temple. (NetGalley) I really wish this had been better done as it has so much potential. It was excessively wordy and repetitive (Yes, we get it, horsemeat and melamine), and the chapters were insanely long. The authors could really have used an editor on the structure as much as anything. It mentioned the melamine scandal at least a dozen times in the first chapter alone, but didn't explain it, just ping ponged around. There was no personality to the writing and it was much like reading a textbook. I would have loved to see something more like Salt, Sugar Fat that was both interesting and readable. I finally DNF'd this one because I couldn't stay awake.
Keep on Loving You by Christie Ridgway. (NetGalley) My first Ridgway. I'm still on the fence, also, still reading.
Reckless by Kimberly Kindcaid. Review here.
One Night Charmer by Maisey Yates. (NetGalley) Oy. Ace. How is Yates possibly gonna turn you into a hero??
What's New On My Kindle:
Junk: Digging Through America's Love Affair with Stuff by Alison Stewart (netgalley)
Along Came a Rogue by Anna Harrington (netgalley)
I Wish You Were Mine by Lauren Layne (purchased)
Healthy Speedy Suppers by (netgalley)
The Episodic Career by Farai Chideya (netgalley)
Only with You by Lauren Layne (purchased)
The Bride Wore Red Boots and The Bride Wore Starlight by Lizbeth Selvig (purchased) (I listened to an interview with her, and then they were on sale and it just happened!)
The Lake House by Kate Morton. (library e-book) This one will expire before I'm ready so I better get on it. I've never read a Morton.
I've read one Morton and I really liked it but her style is very distinct so she's definitely not for everyone. I really want to try the Anna Harrington! I like the look of it.
ReplyDeleteI love Kate Morton! I haven't read her newest yet, but I have read all of her others and really liked them!
ReplyDeleteI've only read The House at Riverton by Morton (not really sure if that is the exact title either) but it was really good. Have more of her books on the TBR but you know how that goes. So I am reading Cuff Me this month for a blog tour and I am super excited about since you enjoy this author so much. I am actually planning on reading it next once I finish my current read. It looks like you got lots of great reading in. I started Salt Sugar Fat but then it had to go back to the library unfinished and I forgot about it. Now I'm thinking I should check it out again. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love Kate Morton's books. Enjoy The Lake House! Great list of books, have fun reading :).
