The TBR shelves, fiction

In a month or so, I'll be moving to a town with a much smaller library than my current library, which I love. I suspect this will limit the number of books I bring home with me, and in any case it might be a while before I can explore it fully. In the meanwhile, this might be a good time for me to start reading the books on my own shelves. Most of these were books I acquired through Paperbackswap and are a couple years old. I have pared these shelves down and down until they almost fit entirely on the shelves.  I thought it would be fun to make a list so that I could cross them off. If there's anything in particular here that I should start with, please speak up!

Please note, this does not include the half-dozen half-read books I have around the house, the boxes of books in the basement or the giant set of shelves in the living room.  This is just the more active set of TBR. One day I'll get around to the rest! Oh, and it was at 99 books and I couldn't stand it, so I added one that I might have gotten rid of to make it even.

The books on top were added when I found them randomly scattered in the house, they have no significance, but are in the list. The top shelf is all fiction. The middle shelf is fiction except for the horizontal books on the right, which are non-fiction. The bottom shelf is non-fiction in the middle, but both horizontal stacks are fiction.

  2. So many good books! I would have a really hard time picking ONE out to start with but for some reason (and it's been years since i read it) I always liked Blue Willow...
Good luck with your move and congrats on your beautiful daughter!

  3. I just laughed when I saw your picture - I have books on a shelf in my bedroom and stacked in front of the shelf. Totally out of control - and I really would like to read these books someday! Good luck with your stack.

  6. Out of all of those, I only have 4 on your list! I thought for sure I would have more than that.

  7. Fun! A book list! You've got some great titles to look forward to, Lisa.

I keep a list of all my unread books--I had to start doing that because I would buy duplicates. :-S One thing I'm not looking forward to is packing all the books we own, read and unread.

  8. My daughter is reading Keeping The Moon right now and really enjoying it. Neither of us have read any Dessen before but if she likes it, I'll have to give it a try. And, if she likes it, I'm getting her more of Dessen's books; it's so hard to get her to read.

  9. What a TBR! ... mine is a tad bigger. *whimper*

The three Lisa Kleypas contemporaries are my absolute favorites: Sugar Daddy, Blue-Eyed Devil and Smooth Talking Stranger. So I definitely recommend you give those a go.

Joanna Bourne's Spymaster's Lady is excellent. I loved it when I read it.

I've heard awesome things about Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series, too. How cool that you have the whole series!

The YA's are good choices too while your days are so hectic. You can probably finish them faster without as much concentration needed, so you'll have a sense of accomplishment from your reading as well as having been entertained by a good story.

    Good luck packing!!

  10. Wow. I adore looking at people's books and I appreciate you taking the photo AND writing them out for me :) Looks like you've got a bunch of great books ahead of you, some I loved, and others I really, really want to read!

  11. The Great Gatsby. Just because its the Great Gatsby and everyone should read it at least once.

I never understood why people use the library when they already have books at home. Until I realized that I continually buy books when I have books at home. At least library is cheaper?
