Hand sewing, head colds, Pinewood Derby

March 16. Morning stitching on the porch

  • A little hand sewing on the porch this morning. Just a TAD too cold to enjoy. It's hard to stitch when your fingers are cold. Supposed to be upper 70s and 80s this afternoon and weekend though!
  • Where did this week GO? It was just Monday!
  • We had a challenging week, I am so happy to see the weekend and relax for a couple days.
  • Unfortunately, it's Pinewood Derby weekend, and Mike works, so no relaxing will be happening.
  • I started working on my piece for the Stitch Swap. I'm really liking it so far.
March 15. Work in progressIt does not say MILF, thank you.
  • This morning I took the creamer out of the fridge and gave it a quick shake and sprayed creamer all over the kitchen. Any guesses who the last person to use the creamer was? Yes, that's right, me. I didn't snap it shut very well.
  • The Princess has a head cold. Poor girl is so snotty and clingy. In related news, the clear Bubble Gum flavor Benadryl is apparently REALLY nasty. That girl would happy chug down any other medicine, but one glance at the bottle has her shaking her head no no no.
What I Read This Week:
  • Some weeks it's really hard to remember!
  • I'm dying for the newest Patricia Briggs, but it's not in yet at my library.
  • I finished Girl Meets God: On the Path to a Spiritual Lifeby Lauren Winner. I enjoyed it as much as the first time, and still found it interesting. I wrote a bit more about it here.
  • Then, after having it out of the library twice, I sat down and gobbled up Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride. The only thing I didn't like was that it's the first in a series and the next one isn't out yet.
  • I started Shineby Lauren Myracle, but her writing style isn't really catching my attention and I might set it aside. I'm going to give it another couple chapters.
  • Still reading Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Lordby Sarah MacLean.

  1. Most of the dads in the Cub Scout pack Vance belonged to were involved with NASCAR, so the Pinewood Derby was VERY serious. I hope you're weekend is relaxing.

  2. The clear benadryl has a bit of an aftertaste, but it doesn't taste bad. I down it all the time when I am out of my pills. Hope she feels better!!! I like Vick's Vapor rub when my girl gets congested. I rub it on her chest and also on her top lip... keep her breathing and clear.

  3. aw, that is too bad you can't get the newest Briggs. Is it possible to request that they buy it? I was surprised to see my library got a copy because they don't have some of her older books.

  4. Sounds like you have had a busy week! I hate when the kids have colds..there just isn't much that you can do for them besides cuddle. Hopefully she feels better soon! And it sounds like you have gotten some quality reading in so that is a good thing :) Hope you've had a great weekend Lisa!

  6. Oh, I remember Pinewood Derby time-so frustrating to build the car and how quickly the race goes. Hopefully the Princess feels better by now. The week did go way too fast-it was our Spring Break and I did not get everything accomplished on my list. Not even close but I did have fun.
