Ringtones

I'm going to have to breakdown and buy a ringtone for my fancy new phone (unless you know where I can get a non-crappy free one?) It turns out that I can't actually hear the built in ringtones. I mean, I HEAR them, but I don't recognize that it's my phone ringing. For years I had two different rings- Mike's ring was The Way That I Am by Ingrid Michaelson and everyone else was the Theme to Star Wars.  With the new phone I choose Jason Mraz's Lucky for Mike, but I am stumped on everyone else. Yeah, I could do Star Wars again, but I don't want to. So what should I pick?

Some contenders:
Obviously, I'm not a huge lover of contemporary music. I mean, I listen to it, but other than love songs I don't really latch on to anything.

What is your ringtone? Is it just a ring? (Which is what I have now, but I miss pretty much every call.) I don't get a ton of phone calls, and don't want one for every person. Just one that isn't Mike.

  1. Don't you just LOVE the iPhone?

  2. I'd go with the theme from Jaws. Summery and fun. LOL.

My ringtone is just a classic phone ring. It's loud and no one ever uses it so I usually know it's me.

  3. I had the Harry Potter theme for ages because SOMEHOW I could hear that one in a crowd. Weird, I know!

  4. There's an iPhone app called RingtoneMaker (both free and paid versions) that lets you make ringtones out of songs in your iTunes library (as long as the songs are DRM-free, anyway).

My main ringtone is the theme from Mad Men, my husband's is the theme from Doctor Who, my sister's is "Goody Two Shoes" by Adam Ant and my son's is "Rocky Top" (he went to college at Tennessee). I have WAY too much fun with ringtones :-).

  5. I used to have different ringtones for everyone in my family, which I had paid for. But I just can't make myself do it since I got my new phone. So I have crappy ring tones--which I don't hear either!

  6. I just use the ones that are on the iPhone, but I do assign different ones to my husband and daughter to distinguish them from anyone else who may call me. :)

  7. Just let us know what you decide, okay?

My old phone had a realistic sounding frog "ribbitting". I loved it, because no one else had it. (Unfortunately, it wasn't available for my new phone.) Now, it's the "The Shadow of Your Smile" which actually doesn't sound anything like it at all.
